Jonny Havens
BIOGRAPHY
Jonny Havens is a Houston trial lawyer who helps injured workers and wronged businesses fight back in court. He has obtained multimillion dollar jury verdicts on behalf of plaintiffs and successfully defended clients at trial against some of the best law firms in the country from plaintiffs seeking tens of millions of dollars in damages.
Jonny grew up in Houston and graduated from Texas A&M University where he served in the Corps of Cadets and learned the discipline that he applies to the practice of law. As a member of the Corps and Company D-2, Jonny held multiple leadership positions and was elected to the Ross Volunteer Company, the official Honor Guard of the Governor of Texas.
After college, Jonny served five years on active duty in the U.S. Army and earned his Ranger Tab as an infantry officer. In Ranger School, Jonny developed a commitment to excellence that he has applied in every endeavor and case since. He fought in Iraq for over two years during two separate deployments. In Iraq, Jonny practiced servant leadership by putting his soldiers first when lives were on the line and the stakes were at their highest. He practices law the same way—client first. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal twice for his service in Iraq and earned the Combat Infantryman Badge among other awards. In combat, Jonny sharpened his penchant to fight back, no matter the odds. He applies that same mentality to his clients’ cases – no company or dispute is too big to take on.
Following his service in the Army, Jonny graduated from Duke University School of Law, consistently ranked among the top ten best law schools in the country, where he served on two legal journals and led two student organizations, including an organization dedicated to providing free legal services to disabled veterans. While attending law school, Jonny also served in the National Guard as a “black hat,” or an officer who trains enlisted soldiers to be officers.
After law school, Jonny worked at the most prestigious and historic law firm in Texas, Baker Botts, where he handled cases with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake and tried cases involving personal injuries, wrongful death, breach of contract, and bad faith insurance claims. Jonny’s military and combat experience coupled with his top-notch legal education and experience make him a formidable foe in the courtroom.
Jonny and his friend Matt Allen, a fellow combat veteran and Baker Botts alum, joined together to use their unique experiences to help injured people and wronged businesses fight back. After all, an injured worker deserves legal counsel every bit as good, or better, than his employer’s legal counsel. Jonny and Matt are committed to using their unique experiences to achieve the very best outcome for their clients.
When he is not fighting on behalf of his clients, Jonny enjoys spending time with his wife, Anna, and their three amazing daughters. He also serves the veteran community through his volunteer work as a Board Member of Combined Arms. Jonny is also active in several ministries at St. Anne Catholic Community.
